Bossiney House Hotel is on the North
Cornwall coast in the small village of Bossiney, set in an enviable
position close to the spectacular coastal path in an area that abounds
with legends and medieval history. Tintagel Castle, said to be the
home of King Arthur, Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table is
less than a mile away in the village of Tintagel, Merlin’s cave
can be found on the beach nearby. Every year in early August (4, 5
and 6 August 2006) combatants come from all over Europe to Tintagel,
the possible location of Camelot to join in the Battle of Camlann.
This is to commemorate what was thought to be King Arthur’s
last battle against his enemy Mordred. In the other direction, going
towards Boscastle lies Rocky Valley with its mysterious Labyrinthe
pattern carvings probably of Early Bronze Age 1800-1400BC, and St
Nectans Glen with its spectacular 60 ft waterfall and St Nectan’s
Kieve and hermitage tea gardens, situated where many ley lines cross
each other.
Bossiney Cove is about a twenty minute walk away and is a great place
to surf, indeed there are a number of outdoor pursuits in the area,
these include fishing, tennis, cycling, riding and golf and for those
who wish to be more adventurous, you can fly a microlite plane at
nearby Davidstow.
For those who enjoy rambling, the coastal path, Rocky Valley, the
Cornish countryside and the moors are ideal and walking anywhere along
this coastline could reward you with a glimpse of wildlife including
many birds, seals, basking sharks and dolphins. Groups are welcome
and if required we can arrange for entertainment and trips out, including
guided walks. The hotel has a large car park that can accommodate
coaches. We also cater for weddings and other celebrations. There
is an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, putting green and licensed
bar. The restaurant offers an a la carte menu with fresh Cornish fish
and seafood from nearby Port Isaac, most other food is sourced locally
to ensure quality and freshness. There is an alfresco dining area
in the garden with a giant umbrella that
has heating and lighting and glass screens to protect diners from
any inclement weather. Food here can be ordered from the a la carte
menu or there is a Cornish Seafood and Spanish Tapas menu. Most of
the bedrooms are en-suite and have views of the Cornish countryside
or the sea. Children and pets are welcome
